Get to Know Wild Hooker 68' 

She's got everything you need and more for your fishing trip of a lifetime!

“Wild Hooker” is a 68’ sportfisher built by Blackwell boatworks in 2008. Craig Blackwell is a custom boat builder from Wanchese, North Carolina. The hull is wood and glass cold molded construction with 100% West Systems Epoxy. The exterior is painted with Awl Craft 2000 Awl grip acrylic top coat. The hull is Fighting Lady Yellow while the house, bridge, and  decks are Snow White. She is powered by twin C-32 1,800-HP Caterpillar engines with ZF gears and has a cruise speed of 32 knots and top speed of 38 knots.

 

Running Gear

The running gear consists of 3.25” Aquamet 22 stainless shafts carried by Cast stainless steal foil struts and an intermediate cutlass bearing incorporated in the shaft log. She is equipped with 32.25” x 41” 5 blade Veem propellers, and stainless rudders with a 2.5” post. (All new in 2014)

 

Tankage

The “Wild Hooker” holds 2,300 gallons of diesel in three aluminum tanks. Two 1,000-gallon saddle tanks in the cockpit and a 300-gallon tank just below the cabinets in the galley.  She carries 300 gallons of fresh water and 50 gallons of  waste water.

 

Fly Bridge

The fly bridge is covered with a pipe welders fiberglass hard top and polished anodized Aluminum. The spacious bridge has 3 large bench seats with gas shocks and large storage beneath. The Stbd bench seat has custom small rod storage that holds 21 rods and reels. There are 2 large stainless lined freezers located forward. In between the two freezers is a large storage area and a fresh water washdown. Aft of the control console are two custom Blue Water varnished teak helm chairs with teak foot rests. All bench seat cushions and helm chairs are upholstered with Brisa distressed UV ultra-leather. The fly bridge deck is covered with beautiful ½” teak decking. (All new in 2014)

 

Fly Bridge Electronics

The hard top has 8 tri-color down lights, LED Nav lights, 3 LED white Lumitec flood lights, an electric fold down radio box, and a hideaway teaser reel box that contains 2 Electramate TR3028-R teezer reels. The radio box has two Icom M506-31 VHF Radios, a Garmin GHP20 Auto Pilot, and a Garmin GMI10 display for temp and water depth.

 

The helm has 3 large 15” Garmin touchscreen displays. The navigation equipment consists of a Garmin 12kw 6’ Radar, FLIR M625 thermal imaging night vision, ACR RCL300 Search light, a Garmin AIS 600 transceiver, digital antenna Cell signal booster, and a Garmin GXM51 XM weather unit.

  

The fishing equipment consist of a Garmin GSD26 depth sounder unit with an airmar PM265C-LH CHIRP transducer, Furuno CH250 searchlight sonar, hydraulic outriggers with Auto Locks, and a Meteor 300 stereo with 4 JL Audio 8-inch speakers. All electronics are able to be displayed on any of the 15” Garmin screens as well and satellite TV. (All new in 2014.)

 

Cockpit

The bulkhead and mezzanine seating is beautiful varnished teak with a custom etched aft window. Stbd against the bulkhead is a varnished 55-gallon bait tank with a multilevel stand pipe control. Beneath the port mezzanine seat is a large stainless freezer and beneath the stbd mezzanine seat is a large ice box. Both are lined with stainless steal. All the way to port on the mezzanine step is a fish box that has a 540lb/day Dometic Eskimo ice maker plumbed to it. In the middle of the mezzanine step is access to the engine room and lazarette. All the way to stbd is a large insulated drink box with stainless liner. Just below the door is a shallow insulated box for extra storage. The mezzanine deck is teak.

 

The teak covering boards house 8 Lees rod holders and 10 custom tuna tubes (6x8” and 4x6”).  All teak Blue Water fighting chair with 21” polished stainless offset and large 5 rod holder rocket launcher with drawer. 2x50 amp shore power receptacles. There's a saltwater wash down to port and a fresh water wash down to starboard. She has 4 JL Audio speakers in the cockpit, 2 under the overhang and 2 under the covering board aft. Wild Hooker also features a large transom tuna door and teak covered main deck. (All new in 2014.)

 

Engine Room

The engine room features:

  • Twin C-32 Acert 1800HP Caterpillars with ZF transmissions.

  • Two Northern Lights 25 Kw generators.

  • ABT Hydraulic Reservoir.

  • Furuno CH250 search light sonar transducer. Dometic Eskimo 540lb per day ice maker.

  • Four Delta T Ventilation fans.

  • All bronze thru-hulls and new DeAngelo exhaust system.

  • Tides Marine shaft seals.

  • FCI 1800 gallon-per-day WaterMaker.

  • 2 Head Hunter Sting Ray pumps, one for saltwater wash down and one for fresh water.

 

Lazarette

The steering system consists of:

  • a BCS electro-hydraulic steering pump,

  • BCS steering ram

  • stainless steal rudders

  • SEF rudder ports with tides marine lip seals

  • Bennette trim tabs

  • 1.5 HP Jacuzzi pump for the tuna tubes

  • 4 blue LED underwater lights.

  • 1KW CHIRP Airmar transducer

            

Salon

Enter through a J Beers Custom Marine electric door to a varnished teak entry with main switch panel to starboard behind two teak panels. Large “L” shaped sofa to port and comfortable three person sofa stbd just forward of switch panel. Massive amount of storage beneath all sofa seats. Custom Release Marine coffee table centered to L sofa. Coffee table also folds into small dinning table with storage beneath lid. Two custom teak Release Marine bar stools at bar.

           

There are 16 imtra LED down lights in the headliner with Vimar swithches and 4 flush mounted surround sound speakers. A 42” Flat screen hideaway television that retracts into counter. Mac Mini with wireless keyboard and mouse. Logitec all in one touch screen remote controls all media and entertainment.

           

Galley

The galley has large Avonite counter tops with a beautiful teak and holly floor. There are 4 SubZero refrigerator/freezer drawers, a 2-burner cooktop,

and a large stainless sink with a Danze faucet. Other appliances include convection microwave oven,  stainless toaster and Keureg coffee maker. The teak cabinets and drawers are finished to perfection with Krystal Satin varnish. 

Master Stateroom

Large king size bed with custom bedding and linens. Giant storage under bed that is easily accessed with out removing mattress or sheets. 6 drawers and 2 large cabinets provide ample storage for all clothes and accessories. Centered in front of the bed is a 30” flat screen TV. Master head has a full shower and a teak and Avonite vanity with Danze stainless fixtures. The head is a Raritan fresh water Atlantis model mounted on a solid teak riser on top of teak and holly flooring. Two flush mount speakers and Imtra down lights in the headliner.

 

Bunkroom

The bunkroom is located just to the right as you walk down the stairs from the Salon. It has two twin beds with custom bedding and matresses. Every stateroom has its own material and design. There is a large full length closet made for hanging longer items. Imtra down lights and 2 flush mount speakers. Large  storage under bottom bunk. 

           

The bunkroom as well as the forward VIP stateroom share the day head with entry off of the companionway. The day head has teak and holly floors with a extra large shower. It has a Raritan Fresh Water Atlantis head mounted on a solid teak riser. Teak vanity has two shelves behind mirrors with teak trim and overhangs the Avonite counter top.

 

Tackle Room

Forward of the bunk room on the port side is the tackle room. The tackle room has custom aluminum mounts to hold our six 130# accurate rods and reels completely assembled and our 2 LP electric reels. The LP reels sit on a Solid teak bench just below cabinets with teak shelves for spools of line and other small items. The mounts are sturdy and can handle rough water while traveling without worry. Tackle room has imtra down lights controlled by a vimar switch just outside the door.

 

VIP Stateroom

All the way forward in the “V” of the vessel is the VIP room. It has a beautiful queen size bed with custom bedding and headboard. There is a 23” flat screen TV mounted slightly to Stbd on the aft wall. Above the queen bed on either side are full length twin beds perfect for children. The entire room from twin beds down is covered with teak veneer finished perfectly. Lots of drawers and cabinets for storing personal items. Beneath the queen bed is a massive storage area perfect for storing large light weight items such as bulk paper towels, cups, spare hose, and other essentials.

 

The VIP has a very large cedar lined closet. The closet has custom rod mounts to hold five 50# rods and reels, three 80# rods and reels, and our 4 standup 50# rods. Lots of room to store cumbersome items such as suitcases for our traveling guests.
